Many people replace cow’s milk with almond milk, which you can buy at the stores. You can also make your almond milk at home. When you drink a home-made almond milk, you will be pleasantly surprised how fresh, creamy, and delightfully delicious.  Moreover, our body really appreciates the nourishing foods we put into it.

 

Benefits of almonds almonds

Almonds contain about 18% of protein and are a good source of vitamin E, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and zinc. They also contain amygdalin, otherwise known as vitamin B17, which is a proposed anticancer nutrient.

Here are more known health and wellness benefits of almonds:

  • Almonds are known as a brain and bone food.
  • Almonds provide us good fat with no cholesterol
  • They help alkalize the blood.
  • They relieve energy blockages in the liver.
  • Almonds are used to lubricate the lungs, relieve asthma and coughing, and dispel phlegm.
  • They strengthen the nervous system, improve energy, and increase strength and sexual vitality.
  • Almonds have anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, emollient, and tonic properties.
  • Almonds foster self control and calmness of the mind and nerves, according to Yogananda, an Indian yogi and author of “Autobiography of a Yogi”.

 

When you eat almonds or making any almond dishes (as well as other nuts), make sure they are soaked for 8-10 hours before using them, to eliminate the enzyme-inhibitors.

 

Almond  milk recipe Almond-Milk

(1) Soak 1 cup of raw almonds for 8-10 hours or overnight.  Rinse.

(2) Blend the almonds with 4 cups of water for 2 minutes.

(3) Strain the blended almond milk through a nut milk bag for smoothness.

(4) Place the strained almond milk back in the blender. Add following ingredients and blend.

  • 2 Tbsp agave or 1 Tbsp of honey (adjust the amount as necessary)
  • one tsp vanilla extract (optional)
